I am all about simplifying things in the kitchen. Yes, there is store bought hummus, bone broth, and almond milk in my fridge. But I draw the line at salad dressing. Bottled dressings are highly processed, full of saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar. Particularly avoid anything that says “Caesar”, “Ranch”, or “creamy” — here is a sample of a popular bottled Ranch dressing ingredient list. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you!)
INGREDIENTS: SOYBEAN OIL, WATER, VINEGAR, SUGAR, EGG YOLKS, SALT, BUTTERMILK, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, GARLIC*, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, XANTHAN GUM, WHEY, PHOSPHORIC ACID, ONION*, POTASSIUM SORBATE AND CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (TO PROTECT FRESHNESS), SPICE, PARSLEY*, DISODIUM GUANYLATE, DISODIUM INOSINATE, YEAST EXTRACT.
This simple Balsamic Vinaigrette is so easy, has only a few ingredients, and lasts in the fridge for weeks — you will never go back to bottled!
