DIY French fries and sweet potato fries…YUM!

Find me the person who doesn’t love a hot, crispy, French fry? All potatoes contain Vitamins A, B, and C, plus magnesium, potassium and fiber, making them the perfect side for any dish. Unfortunately, French fries are often deep fried in vats of highly processed, hydrogenated oils. Some fast food chains (McD’s) even “pre-fry” them before freezing and shipping them to their locations — where they deep fry them AGAIN. Ugh! Taking a whole food and cooking it in saturated fat and sodium, kinda defeats the health benefits of eating it. But eating baked potatoes does get a little dull every night…

So what do you do? Make them yourself! It’s super simple: Cut 1 lb of russet potatoes and/or sweet potatoes into 1/4” strips. Pat them dry with paper towels. Toss with olive oil and sea salt and arrange them on a baking sheet. Cook for 20-25 minutes at 450 degrees. And don’t forget the dipping sauce!

Dipping sauce:

1/2 cup avocado mayo

1/4 cup ketchup (no high fructose corn syrup)

1 Tbsp spicy mustard

Splash of Worcestershire sauce

Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl and serve with the fries. Yum!
