Finish summer strong…

Finish summer strong…

Summer is by no means over, but resist the urge to live every day like it’s your last on earth. By mid-August we can get an “Oh why bother?” attitude, “I’ll just get back on track after Labor Day. YOLO!”. But who wants to spend the last couple weeks of summer feeling tired, puffy, and blah from not taking care of themselves? That slice of peach pie a la mode or that extra glass of wine isn’t going to derail you on a Saturday night, but when it starts to become a nightly habit (heck, I am on vacation!), you start to feel the affects quickly. Sugar and alcohol affect our sleep, which can leave us fuzzy and low energy in the morning, which can make us inclined to skip our morning run, and then opt for a high carb breakfast like a bagel instead of a high protein and plant based smoothie. So what can you do?

We need to prioritize a few key points:

1. Sleeping 7+ hours a night (more is great!)

2. Drinking 1/2 your weight in oz. of water every day

3. Filling 1/2 your plate with fruits and veggies at every meal

4. Eating 100g of protein a day (from plant and animal sources)

5. Exercising daily – – NO exceptions (there’s 24 hours in a day—you can commit to this!)

I don’t know about you, but I start to really feel pretty rotten after just one week off my routine. And our bodies and brains don’t love it either! Let’s finish the season strong. If you need some “survival tactics”, let me help. A few 1:1 nutrition sessions as we enter the fall season is a perfect way to tune up.
